SANTA RITA HILLS

Peake Ranch

From one of the most exciting regions in the modern wine world, Peake Ranch in the Sta. Rita Hills AVA is pure California dreaming.

Central Coast California

Located on California’s Central coast in Santa Barbara County, the Sta. Rita Hills AVA is one of California’s coolest regions. The Pacific Ocean’s marine layer and afternoon ocean breezes traverse the coastal valley corridors creating the perfect environment for elegant, precise, complex Pinot Noirs and Chardonnays and home to one of the most exciting estates – Peake Ranch.

‘Peake Ranch has a wonderful history full of special people who roamed the land. We respect that legacy and plan to honor it in every way we can; from the way we grow our grapes, to the people they surround ourselves with and the hospitality they plan to extend.’

Created in 2012 by John and Gill Wagner, Peake Ranch has gone from strength to strength with their stunning wines in just a short time becoming one of Santa Barbara County’s leading names.

With 3 glorious vineyards to their name, John and Gill have created a dynamic operation

producing exceptional wines and huge accolades.

Home to the winery itself, Peake Ranch Vineyard is a gorgeous setting with a prestigious history.

Previously home to Sanford Winery, it was here that Robert Sanford and a few other legends developed what was to become Sta. Rita Hills AVA.  This 105-acre parcel with 50 acres of vines all along a hill that covers most of the ranch, exposing the vines to the cool air that comes off the Pacific and into the Santa Ynez Valley. The combination of North, South, East and West facing slopes coupled with the exposure to varying degrees of the cool wind give the vineyard a diversity of fruit flavour profiles that is unique to a ranch of this size.

Sierra Madre Vineyard is located on the western side of the Santa Maria Valley and is the oldest vineyard planted in 1971.  The cool summers, south facing hillside vines, and sandy well-drained soil has made this vineyard one of the most coveted sources of high-quality fruit, especially the Chardonnay.

John Sebastiano Vineyard is located on the eastern edge of the Sta. Rita Hills AVA. The raised elevation of this vineyard exposes this spot to an extra dose of the winds that the appellation is famous for. Cool nights and constant wind make for grapes that show great concentration and lending themselves to the magic of the wines created.

The Wagner’s have a deep love and connection with the Santa Barbara wine country and are committed to achieving the ultimate expression of what the region can achieve.

Together with their dream team Wynne, Mike, Eric and Daisy, they have created some of the best wines around. From their Santa Barbara Chard and Pinot to the gorgeous vineyard designates, Grenache blend and Gruner Veltliner, Peake Ranch Wines are heading for the stars!

The nose on this bottling is tightly wound, allowing delicate hints of melon rind, grass and lime to emerge. The palate holds that tightness as well, delivering brisk flavors of green grass and lime peel atop an energetic acidity.
